Executive Summary

Jordan Aiko Deja is an HCI researcher working on augmented reality, visualization and learning. He is a PhD candidate at the University of Primorska, Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies (UP FAMNIT), Koper, Slovenia. He is part of the HICUP research group which explores novel interaction concepts, advancing sensing methods and finding ways of improving personalised services using models and algorithms. He is also a member of the Department of Software Technology and the COMET research group of College of Computer Studies, De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines. He is one of the Directors of User Experience Philippines (UXPH). He is also one of the co-founders of the Manila ACM SIGCHI Chapter where he is currently chapter secretary.

Research Overview

Jordan’s research explores the design, development, and evaluation of novel interfaces that enable users to understand themselves better and how they work. His research follows the S.P.A.C.E. agenda, abbreviated from Spatial, Pervasive, Augmented, and Creative Experiences. He is currently working on projects involving Augmented Reality, Robotics and Drones. As part of his community efforts, he also performs industry research specific to the local UX community in the Philippines. This allows him to contribute to various policy guidelines that support the local workforce.

Teaching and Supervision

Jordan regularly teaches courses that revolve around agile, software engineering and HCI. He is currenly on-leave from his teaching duties in DLSU. At present he is doing teaching assistant duties in UP FAMNIT.
